Falcon IV Turf Type 50 lb Falcon IV is a new and improved, heat and
disease resistant, tall fescue variety developed for superior turf
quality across a wide area of adaptation. It is dark green in color,
fine textured with excellent wear tolerance. Falcon IV exhibits a unique
combination of traits including dense growth, improved turf quality and
resistance to brown patch incited by Rhizoctonia solani. Falcon IV is an
endophyte enhanced tall fescue with >92% Neotyphodium coenophialum
endophyte which provides resistance to a number of leaf and crown
feeding insects and nematodes. The presence of endophyte also contribute
to improved biotic and abiotic stress tolerance, faster seedling
establishment, enhanced fall recover and reduced summer weed invasion.

sheep and blue fescues, but has wider, tougher, less glaucus leaves and
is more tolerant of higher fertility and moist soil conditions.Viking

maintenance, due in part to its low rate of vertical growth, which

Hard Fescue 50-lb Hard fescue is indeed one of the "hardiest" of the
fescues. Shade and drought resistant, and more disease resistant this
fescue grows best in the north and the higher elevations. Hard fescue
has blue-green color, and can grow in some of the most adverse of
conditions and in heavily shaded areas. Hard fescue grows in the clump
formations and may not be mown as low as the other fescues. Hard fescue
is one grass that stays green a longer period of time, is slow growing
and a low maintenance grass.
Festuca trachyphylla (Hack.) Krajina, hard fescue, is a
medium tall, semi-erect, long-lived, densely tufted bunchgrass. It is a
large form of sheep fescue and closely related to Chewings fescue. It
has broader, longer, coarser, more lax leaves than sheep fescue. It is
more drought tolerant than Chewings fescue but not as hardy as native
sheep fescues. It is a heavy root producer. This plus its abundant dense
leaves and low crowns makes it an excellent erosion control plant. It is
a good seed producer, but seedling vigor is low. |

grass. Warm season grasses go dormant during the winter months and can
be overseeded with a cool season grass variety to maintain green color

overseeding with perennial ryegrass if you want a "wintergreen" lawn. It
can take heavy wear better than most other grasses. Common bermuda is
green from late spring until frost and is light brown when it is dormant
